Performance Measurement - Support for Continuous Improvement

£9.50
ISBN 1-899566-16-3

It is often said that "if you can measure it, you can manage it", but all too often organisations apply ineffective or inappropriate measurement systems and end up managing the wrong things. This workbook provides an introduction to the principles and practices of performance measurement, with the aim of enabling readers to use a workbook format to help develop their own effective performance measurement systems.

The workbook covers the principles of performance management, including what to measure-how to measure, and the need to develop a balanced set of measurements. It also explains how the progress of a continuous improvement process can be measured, and ends with an overview of the UK/European Quality Model as a potential means of benchmarking progress.

It can be used as a stand-alone workbook, or as a supporting resource to other TQM International Training Modules
on "Performance Measurement" and "Measuring Continuous Improvement Progress". For example, the workbook
can be used as a course handout, based on these modules, or as part of a self-development/self-study programme.
In addition to the main text, there are four Worksheet Sections, at key points in the book, which the reader can use to
help apply their learning to an "at work" situation. At the end of the workbook is a seven-step Personal Action Plan
which takes the reader through the process of developing a measurement system for their own work-based
improvement objectives.
